Abstract
A sophomore-level course in ergonomics (IE 274, Ergonomics in Work System Design, 2 semester hours) is the only course in ergonomics required by undergraduate industrial engineering students at Iowa State University. Providing a set of meaningful, two-hour laboratory experiences for sections of 20 to 25 students in a room also used for other course laboratory work in the same day has proven to be a challenging educational project. Laboratory exercises developed and used so far are described along with plans for future developments and implications for the potential expanding role of ergonomics in industrial engineering education.
