Abstract
If N independent response functions are represented electronically in a man-in-the-loop control system, it is possible to present each of several operators with a display consisting of the system forcing function minus all other operator response functions. This situation has been termed both social tracking (ST) and multi-vector tracking (MVT). There is evidence that MVT can provide faster learning in dual training environments, and generally better tracking in special applications, such as targeting a wire-guided missile, where multi-operator crewing can be cost-effective. A single operator may also profit from independent response function representation within a control system for each of several limbs, and for each of several segregated frequency bands.
