Abstract
Sociotechnical approaches emphasize the unique aspects of each design attempt. This characteristic would appear to preclude the use of computers, to formulate solutions. The assertion that micro-computers can be used to augment the Sociotechnical design process is presented. Rather than affirming the computer's ability to complete complex algorithms, the computer is offered as a decision aid. The use of the computer as a decision support system acknowledges the importance of human discretion in creating and operating effective systems.
