Abstract
Recent research to evolve an advanced head up display (HUD) concept has demonstrated one system which is now flying and a second, holographic system which is in final development. This research has clearly shown the importance of real display dynamics using realistic sensor data representations. The difference between using theoretical data and data representative of real operations made the difference between marginal and useful HUD utility. This paper will summarize some of the related observations and experiences.
