Abstract
Twenty years ago, when electronic instruments were simple to use, there was little interest in applying human factor principles to products. Now, however, as products become more complex because of increased capabilities, there is a real need for human factor specialists to play a key role in the design and final use of those products. This is especially true in electronic industry companies, where microprocessor chips have brought about more capability than a front panel can handle.
