Combinations of cursors and display input field indicators were evaluated using three simulated operator tasks. Input fields were indicated by column separators, reverse image, underscoring, or brackets; cursors by blinking or nonblinking underscore or block cursors. Results showed column separators, broken line underscoring, and block cursors to be generally superior to the alternatives.
