A German regulation specifies that the height of the home row of a keyboard must not exceed 30 mm (1.2 inches) above the top of the table. Results of a study comparing heights of 30, 38 and 45 millimeters show that performance on the higher keyboards was significantly superior to the 30 mm height. Also, questionnaire data showed significant operator preference for the higher keyboards.
