Abstract
This paper is the result of the author's participation in the investigation of an F-4G accident which occurred during a Red Flag (tactical warfare) exercise. The aircraft crashed in an area which was strongly suggestive of visual/ perceptual problems. Investigation of the crash site revealed that the terrain potential for visual/perceptual misinterpretation was clearly present. The incident is discussed in the light of low level, high speed flight.
