Abstract
Mechanical shock, heat stress, motion sickness, vibration, noise and alcohol effects on man were studied for their potential safety ramifications in small boat operations. The mechanical shock, vibration, noise and heat stressors were found to be the hazards in the small boat environment which could be the subject of immediate remedial actions. The minimum limits of intensity and/or duration of exposure necessary to cause either physiological or psychological decrement are suggested for these latter three stressors based on the limited research in the area. Needed, additional areas for research are outlined.
