Abstract
Successful transition from trainee status to worker status is dependent on three factors: (1) Adequate skill training; (2) Adequate placement opportunities; and (3) Appropriate job readiness posture. This study evaluated a psychometric instrument, the Vocational Opinion Index (VOI), designed to measure the job readiness posture component of the Transition process.
Data was collected from over 3,000 people. The sample consisted of active trainees and graduates and dropouts of MDTA programs across the country.
The results of this study showed that the JRP met the standard psychometric criteria for reliability and validity. A multidiscriminant analysis of the data yielded three multidiscriminant equations which correctly discriminated the worker status of over 80 percent of the sample.
