Abstract
The Environmental Design Technical Group (EDTG) is concerned with the relationship between human behavior and the designed environment. The objective is to foster and encourage the integration of ergonomic principles into the design of environments. In 2015/2016, a ‘special issue’ of WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation will be dedicated to Environmental Design and consists of papers on built environments, (i.e. offices, healthcare buildings), and vehicle interiors, (i.e. car and aircrafts). The effects of surroundings around humans on humans are studied. This panel will highlight several of these papers and feature several of the authors. Topics and discussions will include the relationship between the interior environment, human performance, and comfort, thus leading to guidelines requirements or suggestions for environmental design improvement. Additionally, the co-editors will discuss the responsibilities and process of preparing the articles for a Special Issue on Environmental Design.
