Abstract
We describe the development of a visualization-based decision support system for operational effects assessment. The system was developed using the Integrated Methodology for Joint Cognitive Systems (IMJCS). The IMJCS is designed to integrate cognitive system engineering (CSE) throughout system development by addressing four areas: Content, communication, risk management and traceability. Development phases in IMJCS will be presented as context within which the development of the visualization system was carried out. The IMJCS is distinguished from other approaches to human-centered design in that it is designed to integrate into existing system engineering processes and to make contributions throughout the entire system engineering development cycle.
