Abstract
Data on physical strength capabilities are vital for designers to ensure that products can be used and operated safely and comfortably by all intended users. This paper describes a two stage research project which was undertaken to provide designers with such design-relevant data. Potential data needs were identified in Stage 1 of the study, and in Stage 2 new data were collected to meet those needs. The methodology, findings, and implications for universal design are presented and discussed.
