Eight trends are described. These have been synthesized from the predictions of five of the worlds leading trends institutes and represent the common wisdom of the world's leading trend forecasters. Potential consequences of these trends for design are described. It is concluded that understanding the consequences of such trends is an essential step towards creating products which are a real joy to own and use.
