Abstract
To the execution of the great variety of tasks on Civil Construction sites, it is necessary in most cases the maintenance of aggressive postures. These intense physical efforts cause important physiologic reactions in the workers' musculoskeletal system. A case study was accomplished in five building sites in Ponta Grossa City, Paraná State, south of Brasil. The awkward postures were observed, but the main observation was the use of improvised supports and scaffolds. The worker needed to pay attention to the fragility of the support, because the maintenance of his gravity center may cause an additional muscular stretching. The work organization is essential to the maintenance of correct postures, because the necessary equipments will be provided and the improvisation will be avoided.
