The cardiorespiratory strain of professional female cleaners was quantified as they used different floor mopping methods with respect to the amount of water ranging from dry to wet. The results of oxygen consumption, heart rate and the rating of perceived exertion indicated that the cardiorespiratory strain of dry mopping methods was systematically lighter than that of the more watery methods.
