Abstract
Contributing factors to slips, trips and falls at work have been studied in 1.600 accident reports. Both older male and female workers had higher rates of reported STF accidents, but no significant gender or age differences were noted with regard to the factors contributing to the accidents. In the case of both men and women a lack of orderliness at the workplace was the most prevalent contributing factor to the accident. For a successful prevention of STF accidents, improved orderliness, better ladders, reliable safety devices and an effective snow clearance are needed together with a proper sense for the realism in initiated undertakings.
