Abstract
Physical ability testing can be effective in reducing the risk of injury in distribution and logistics operations. Job candidates who do not demonstrate the strength and aerobic capacity required to perform the job at the time of hire are at roughly double the risk of workers' compensation injury. Companies who have implemented physical ability testing have typically had a 20% to 40% reduction in injury rate from the year prior to implementation to the year after implementation.
