Abstract
Ergonomic, biomechanical and physiological stresses to the 63 male and 6 female wholesale grocery order sectors were studied in three different warehouses. The mean performance indexes were 119, 111 and 98% and the corresponding energy expenditures were 6.2, 6.0 and 8.3 Kcal/min and the average heart rates were 110, 122 and 133 beats/min. in warehouse 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The estimated compressive forces ranged from 411 to 658 kg on the male spine and 401 to 675 kg on female spine.
