The group and team work has expanded during the 1990's in Finland. Changes in the role of the management and in the work organization have had marked impact also on safety measures. A research project was targeted towards clarifying safety issues in the team work. Rules and responsibilieties were defined together with the production personnel. Measures to integrate safety with the team work were specified, as well as criteria for successful team activities. The effect of team organization on safety culture and occupational accidents were evaluated.
