In most aircrafts today, there is no support for simultaneous communication. This study investigated the human perception of three-dimensional auditory information under noise and mental stress conditions. The task was to perceive the location and the verbal contents of spoken messages. The perception of the location of the aural message was not as good as the understanding of the verbal messages themselves. However, noise and mental stress had significant effects on the performance.
