Abstract
At the same time that there is increased emphasis on parental and family participation in addressing the needs of individuals with severe handicaps, the population is characterized by increasing cultural and linguistic diversity. However, traditional service delivery and training programs are often underutilized and may not be appropriate for this growing segment of the community. In the present article, some of the potential barriers related to the participation of Latino* families in particular are discussed, and then one successful education and training activity for Latino families with children with developmental disabilities is described.
