It is an unfortunate fact that teachers of the severely handicapped are often the only professionals in a position to recognize the possible existence of a physical problem In a learner. While most are not capable of providing medical assistance, all teachers should be able to observe for symptoms that may Indicate undetected physical problems, and to act as advocates for their learners in obtaining any needed medical assistance. To this end, the authors present a screening device.
