Abstract
This study evaluated data collected by questionnaire (N = 49) from professional occupational therapy education programs in the United States regarding their funding requests submitted in 1985, 1986, and 1987. For the 3-year evaluation period, occupational therapy programs submitted 226 requests. Full or partial funding (N = 134), totaling $13+ million, was received with $8+ million assigned to occupational therapy. Specifically, funding was received in the amount of $389,940 for research (n = 61), $4,247,137 for training (n = 33), $384,213 for model programs (n = 7), $785,133 for research and demonstration projects (n = 6), and $2,316,767 for other types (n = 27). Requests were submitted intramurally (n = 57) and extramurally (n = 169) to a wide variety of agencies. The likelihood of funding varied among funding agencies related to the purpose of the proposal.
