This is the report of a case of fibroelastoma of the mitral valve, presenting with a cystic image at the echocardiogram, that was confirmed at surgery and by histopathologic examination. Severe mitral valve regurgitation was diag nosed by Doppler study and angiocardiography. Both features, the severe mitral regurgitation and the cystic image, have not been described previously in cases of fibroelastoma.
