This article reports 5 cases of young females with "Takayasu's arteritis" who underwent successful vascular operation during the period from February, 1978, to May, 1983. The operations were performed at the Vascular Service of Marcilio Dias Naval Hospital. Analysis of the blood tests revealed that the erythrocyte sedimentation rate was elevated in 3 patients. Arteriography pro vided the definitive diagnosis. The patients have been asymptomatic since then.
