Intraoperative Pre-reconstructive Angiography (IPA) was performed on 32 extremities of patients with rest pain and/or gangrene. In all cases I.P.A. pro vided better visualisation of the distal arterial system. In 19 extremities (59%) the I.P.A. resulted in major changes in the proposed patient treatment and operation. We advocate I.P.A. in extremities requiring lower extremity bypass in whom pre-operative angiography fails to opacify or inadequately opacifies vessels below the knee.
