Abstract
It has recently become clinically feasible to extract highly concentrated fibrinogen from the patient's own blood. In combination with commercial thrombin this fibrinogen/thrombin compound can be used as tissue adhesive, hemostatic agent and intravascular embolizer. In this presentation the authors describe a new end-to-side and side-to-side microanastomosis using this autologous "fibrin glue" (Fibrinkleber) in stead of suture material. The advantages of the new technique consist of:
• Simplicity
• Greatly reduced OR time
• Increased patency rate
• Can be done without operating microscope
