Atherosclerotic aortic aneurysms rarely result in dissection and it is quite uncommon to find evidence of infection in such a dissection. Recently, a mycotic dissecting atherosclerotic infrarenal aortic aneurysm was excised in a 53-year-old male and replaced with an aortic bifurcation graft. Following this surgery, the patient developed osteomyelitis of the lumbar spine, which im proved on prolonged antibiotic therapy.
