Abstract
This study explored the effects of attachment and acculturation on relationship satisfaction for Latino college students in their current close friendships. Results indicated that attachment but not acculturation predicts relationship satisfaction. Women were more satisfied than men with friends of the same and opposite sex. High-quality close friendships and secure attachment mutually lead to positive health and mental health outcomes for young adults. The implications, limitations, and suggestions for further research are discussed.
