Abstract

At the request of Sage and the Journal Editor, the following article has been retracted:
Yung, M.H.H., Ross, F.A., Hardie, G., Leung, T.H.Y., Zhan, J., Ngan, H.Y.S., & Chan, D.W. Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia) Extract Inhibits Tumorigenicity and Overcomes Cisplatin-Resistance in Ovarian Cancer Cells Through Targeting AMPK Signaling Cascade. Integrative Cancer Therapies. 2016; 15(3). https://doi.org/10.1177/1534735415611747
Sage was made aware of concerns raised on
Figure 1D (OV2008, Cleaved PARP) appears highly similar to Figure 1D (C13*, pHSP27) and Figure 1D (C13*, Cleaved PARP)
During an internal investigation, additional concerns were noted in the following figures:
Figure 5B HEK293 y2 WT, p-AMPKα appears highly similar to Figure 5B HEK293 y2 WT, AMPKα
The authors responded to the concerns to explain that the overlap was due to errors during manuscript preparation. Sage requested raw, unedited images underlying the figures, but the authors were only able to provide cropped images.
Following review by the Journal Editor and due to unresolved concerns about image integrity that call into question the validity of the findings, this article has been retracted.
The authors did not agree with the decision to retract.
