Abstract
The controversy surrounding the issue of individualized intelligence testing may be entering the 500th year. Recent litigation has probably widened the gap between opponents in the controversy. This article explores six issues of that controversy: (a) questions related to the validity of the concept of intelligence and its testing (b) ethical issues, (c) legal issues, (d) racial/minority/cultural issues, (e) poor correlation between test results and teaching, and (f) alternatives proposed by various investigators. The author presents a proponent's position on the issue of individualized IQ testing and offers some suggestions to resolve the issues in each of the six areas of the controversy.
