This article provides an overview of one form of curriculum-based assessment, known as Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM). First, CBM is described. Then, three strategies for using CBM to formulate instructional decisions are reviewed. Next, potential contributions of CBM to special education practice are described. Finally, important areas of additional research on CBM are identified.
