Abstract
When improving service delivery and best practice approaches to dementia care, it is imperative that the total environment be examined rather than just enhancing staffing and programming. Achievement of an integrated approach to care involves examining all aspects that the resident and staff experience during the process of care. This study examined the impact of the total environment in the care and management of residents in two dementia units in Tasmania. The research also tested the applicability of the Total Environment Quality of Care Model and the dementia care propositions
