Abstract
The following review of literature highlights a common theme in social gerontology today Symbolic Interaction. The symbolic interaction theory emphasizes the dynamic interaction present between people and their social worlds. It is the purpose of this paper to establish that symbolic interaction is a consistent dimension present in the multidisciplinary practices addressing the management of the person with Alzheimer's disease. The multidisciplinary authors examined use diverse terminology and represent an assortment of perspectives, but the predominant and consistent theme is symbolic interaction.
