Abstract
Principles of good design for products and environments that enhance the dignity and avoid stigmatizing individuals with Alzheiner's disease are illustrated. The importance of ergonomic design is stressed with the objective of encouraging the development ofproducts that are welcomed by everyone because of their simplicity and ease of use. Prioritiesfor research and technological development are suggested, including means of quantifying activity and behaviour, the design of reminder devices, guidelines for control interface design and investigations of the suitability of intelligent environments.
