Abstract
When healing modalities based on natural elements and processes are termed “alternative,” we unconsciously perpetuate the idea that accepted convention should dictate what we view as primary. The following is a reflection on the notion that rather than conventional healing (which is presently, though not unchangeably, centered on our modern technological medicine), nature herself should be our starting point when determining what is “alternative.”
