Abstract

At the request of Sage and the Managing Editor, the following article has been retracted:
Zhang J, Zhang Q-Y, Fu Y-C, et al. Expression of p-Akt and COX-2 in Gastric Adenocarcinomas and Adenovirus Mediated Akt1 and COX-2 ShRNA Suppresses SGC-7901 Gastric Adenocarcinoma and U251 Glioma Cell Growth In Vitro and In Vivo. Technology in Cancer Research & Treatment. 2009;8(6):467-478. doi:10.1177/153303460900800608
Sage was made aware of a PubPeer post discussing this article. The concerns raised by readers are:
In Figure 6C, the photos showing treatment effects of PBS and rAd5-HK appear highly similar to the control and nonsense images of Cui et al’s1 Figure 6B.
In Figure 6A, the COX-2 SGC-7901 panel appears to have overlap with the COX-2 rAd5-HK panel.
When we attempted to contact the authors for comment and an explanation on what may have occurred, we did not receive a response.
Due to the unexplained anomalies in the figures of this research, that call into question the overall integrity of the research, the article has been retracted.
The authors did not respond when notified of this decision.
