Sage was alerted to a conversation on PubPeer which raised concerns about the primer sequences used in the article and whether they were appropriate for the experiments in the study. After conducting an internal investigation Sage also became aware that the submission contains indicators of third-party involvement.
Sage contacted the authors for comments but did not receive a response.
Due to concerns around author contributions to this article, as well as concerns around the integrity of the research process, Sage and the Journal Editors retract this article.
