Following article publication, the authors contacted the journal editorial office to request that the article be retracted because of an image duplication between the Figure 5A pcDNA3.1 well and Figure 5B pcALDOA well. The image duplication was also pointed out in a comment on PubPeer. The authors have explained that they are unable to replicate the findings in the article.
As the conclusions of the article have come into question, the Executive Editor of Technology in Cancer Research & Treatment has agreed that this paper should be retracted from the Journal.
