Gubernatorial power is a concept that has received considerable attention from students of
comparative state politics. One aspect of gubernatorial power that has been overlooked is its
relationship to gubernatorial elections. This article explores the relationship between gubernatorial power and incumbent security in gubernatorial elections from 1978-1990. The analysis,
however, fails to support such a relationship.
