Abstract
It is not our intent to make coating formulators of you; that is our business. Rather we have attempted to acquaint you with some of the major components of the coating compound and their purpose so that you may be aware of the complexities of the design and application of textile coatings. From the above, it can readily be seen that textile coatings are indeed specialties, and each formulation must be carefully adjusted to produce the desired effect in enhancing the performance of the fabric without which the coating might be commercially useless.
Time restraints have not allowed in-depth discussions of any of the subjects covered. For those with a need or interest, you should consult the producers of polymers, fillers, and ancillary chemicals as well as the producers of textile coatings to learn more of how these products can add substantial value to the fabric.
