Abstract
PVC-coated fabrics have a long history in industrial applications such as tarpaulins and sealing membranes. Because of the recent threat of the banning of PVC in many applications, Van Besouw began to develop a whole new generation of coated fabrics without PVC-P and plasticizer. The revolutionary combination of a umque extrusion coating technology and ordinary polyolefins led to a new range of products with a price/quality relation similar to the traditional PVC-coated fabrics. The most astonishing fact is that no concessions had to be made; in some cases it even led to better properties than the traditional PVC-P-coated fabrics owned.
