Abstract
The calender is one of the most versatile and precise pieces of equip ment in the rubber and plastics industries. Coated industrial fabrics are produced by pressure laminating coatings to appropriately prepared fabrics with pairs of mating rolls in the calender. Of the various coating techniques, calender and extrusion coating is only one process method that one should evaluate.
This article describes the equipment generally used on the high productivity side of coating process alternatives. This equipment selection is also the most costly to buy and install. A brief overview of products, materials, markets and economics is also given.
