The objective of this presentation is to show the different types of bonding agents that are used for coating with vinyl and rubber to obtain a high level of adhesion by chemical bonding. There is no doubt that today a lot of bonding agents for all the different coatings are available. This article points out that adhesion and tear propagation resistance are influenced by a number of parameters. Only under specific conditions does tear resistance exhibit a clear dependence on adhesion. To produce a high quality coated fabric, the coater has to know about these de pendencies ; this article may provide guidance for him.
