A method for producing a no-twist cotton yarn directly from card web has been developed. The technique is made possible by a unique device for aligning the fibers in the web to form a no-twist yarn in a one-step operation. This progress report presents details of this new technique as well as yarn and fabric data obtained from the experimental yarn as compared to conventional ring and open-end spun yarns.
