Kevlar® aramid fibers offer a highly desirable balance of properties which have found utility in a wide range of applications, such as tire cord, hose reinforcement, conveyer belts, ropes and cables, protective clothing, boat hulls, and aerospace composites. This paper will focus on the use of Kevlar® aramid fibers in high performance coated fabrics and will compare the mechanical properties of coated fabrics based on Kevlar® 29, polyester, nylon, and glass fibers.
