Abstract
A process has been developed by Bostik Division, USM Corporation by which solvent-free (100% solids) liquid urethanes can be dispensed by simple equipment and applied by standard coating techmques on fabrics or transfer paper to yield high quality urethane-coated fabrics. The final products are thermoset urethanes. Important to the process is precise control of the rheological characteristics of the coating mixture. Details of rheological requirements for knife coating and heat curing are presented. The process is limited to "thick coatings" of over about 3 mils and can be used for very heavy coatings applied in a single pass.
