Abstract

On behalf of the Journal of Industrial Textiles (JIT), I would like to take this opportunity to offer my best wishes for the New Year to all our readers, authors, reviewers and editorial board members. Many individuals within the community offer their support to the Journal of Industrial Textiles on an annual basis. Both SAGE and the Editorial Office would particularly like to thank all the reviewers and editorial board members, who regularly review papers submitted to the journal. Thank you for your hard work throughout 2013. Your expert knowledge and volunteered time are appreciated and we look forward to another successful year with your continued efforts.
It has been a great honor and privilege for me to serve the Journal as Editor-in-Chief, and to have seen the Journal grow in recent years, not only in quality, but also in quantity. Due to the increasing number of high-quality papers submitted to the Journal, JIT is now publishing six issues per year instead of four, starting from this issue. This will increase authors’ opportunities to have their papers published and more research papers will reach our readers in a timely manner, but the Journal is still very selective. I congratulate the authors who have had their papers published in JIT and encourage authors from around the world to continue contributing to the Journal. Manuscripts are welcome from government research centers, universities, private research organizations, industrial laboratories, and independent scientists.
The Journal of Industrial Textiles is the only journal devoted exclusively to technology, processing, methodology, modeling and applications in technical textiles, nonwovens, coated and laminated fabrics, and textile composites. It serves as the premier forum for the presentation of new scientific results that introduce new concepts and innovative technologies, to improve our understanding of technical textiles. The increasing Impact Factor for the Journal in the past two years demonstrates JIT as one of the most important journals in technical textiles research.
Each bi-monthly issue publishes research-based articles by specialists on new developments in technical textile materials including fibers, fibrous assemblies, textiles, and other fiber-based materials such as nonwovens and textile composites. These papers deal with research in Agrotech, Buildtech, Clothtech, Geotech, Hometech, Indutech, Medtech, Mobiltech, Packtech, Protech, Sporttech, and Oekotech. Related research includes, but is not limited to technical textiles and nonwovens in hygiene, medical, consumer wipes, and industrial wipes, garments, Interlinings, shoes and leather goods, furnishings and bedding, floor coverings, air and liquid filtration, building and roofing, geotextiles, automotive, agriculture, and electronics. The journal also covers new developments in safety and environmental concerns, flammability and fire retardants, standards and regulations, test methods and results.
The new JIT online submission system, SAGEtrack, allows authors to see their paper’s status at every stage of the process, making the review process more efficient and reducing time from submission to publication. Please look at the website and set up your own user account at:

Finally, my appreciation is extended to the JIT production editors and team members at SAGE for their hard work in publishing the Journal to schedule. We continue to improve the Journal to serve the technical textile community by publishing the most advanced research and developments in the field. I would be happy to receive your comments about the Journal. Thank you.
Best regards,
Dong Zhang, Ph.D.
Editor-in Chief, Journal of Industrial Textiles
