Abstract
The relationship with radio is unique for each individual, but those relationships have social and relational dimensions. In addition, the development of radio implies a series of continuities and discontinuities in the ways of production, distribution, and consumption of symbolic forms and goods. Radio biographies, including family histories and life histories, were used to create a vision of the ways in which three different generations began to relate to radio. The biographies examine radio’s social uses, the musical tastes of each generation, and the generations’ ways of interrelating. The study was carried out in the city of León, Guanajuato, Mexico, with the aim of studying the city’s cultural change.
